Well the stupid phone stupid company has said it's gonna take them a stupid 14-21 days to connect our stupid internet :-(

48 hours my arse...

Might see about getting on to another supplier. The only reason we haven't moved before is because we were LLU with TT, and would have cost too much to switch. But if we haven't got internet set up yet, that shouldn't be a problem.

I hate them so much...

Well, we're all moved in and half-unpacked! Still without internet (I'm typing this at work), but it should be connected by this Sunday evening. I still haven't gotten used to going upstairs to bed, especially as the bathroom is downstairs (a nightmare for the inevitable thrice-nightly pregnant pee!), but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. the cats enjoy it, they've each adopted a step of their own as a bed, and because they're the 'slatted' stairs, we can play with them through the staircase. My girl cat thinks she's a kitten again...

Gav's really getting into Daddy mode now. He was playing with the baby last night, poking my belly and laughing when it pushed back. It's kicked him in the head a few times too, when he's put his head on my belly to listen to it. He says he can hear it moving around - wish I could! And it kicked the midwife the other day too, when she put the stethoscope thing on my belly to listen for the heartbeat. I swear it's gotten a personality already :-D

Catch-up on the Life of Jay

Ugh. Moving. Hate it. Hate packing. Hate the fact that I've got 8 years worth of crap in this flat and I really don't want to take it all with me!

So far I've gotten through 20 binbags full of rubbish, filled up about 15 boxes, and I'm only about halfway done. Still, the worst is over; you know how most people have one cupboard where everything gets stuck when you don't know what to do with it? We had 3. And we've cleared them. Which is where most of the rubbish bags got filled!

Of course, Gav's helping me with all this, but he's out at a wrestling show today so I figured I'd get some stuff done on my own. So I decided to tackle the kitchen. I wasn't counting on my 'nesting' instinct making me clean everything before I pack it...pans, plates, dishes, tins; the lot. But I figure, it's better to clean it now, than pack it dirty and slow down the unpacking next week.

Next week. Hmph. We're moving in 7 days. Fortunately, I'm only in work for 2 of those, so can spend the majority of next week...well, packing. Saturday we've got a wrestling show so won't be able to do much that day, but I'm sure we'll get it all done in time. It helps that we've already got the keys to the house and can take boxes up there as we fill them. Makes it easier to see what we've got left to do.

We're lucky enough that we managed to get all the baby equipment up there too. It was taking up way too much room in the flat. For something so small it sure will need some big stuff!

The inventory so far:

Pram/travel system/car seat

Cot (at parents for now)

Moses basket and stand

Bouncer chair

Electric baby swing

Walker (won't need for a while but was cheap)

High chair (ditto)

Doorway bouncer harness (v. important!)

Electric steriliser with 7 bottles and accessories

Nappies (3 packs for £10 at Asda so stocked up on first 2 sizes)

Nappy sacks

Baby wipes (both cheap in bulk at Cash and Carry)

Nappy wrapper/Diaper Genie

Lots of sleepsuits in 0-3 months and 3-6 months

Outdoor clothes in 0-3 months

Cot bedding

Toiletries

Bath

And lots of random bits like mittens, booties etc.

I think the only things we really need to get now are the breast pump and the stuff for my hospital bag. Got the bag itself, just need to fill it.

Looking at that list, I'm thinking we may have gone slightly mad. The kid's not due for another 2 months, and I've got 2 more pay-days before then. God knows why I've bought it all now! I guess that's what nesting does to you - makes you go shopping.

Ok, change of subject before I go out and buy more baby stuff. The cats are both looking uber-cute - we bought them both collars and nametags yesterday in preparation for when we move and they can start going out. They can't roam where we currently are because for one, we don't have a back door and I'm not leaving a window open the whole time (it's dodgy round here), and secondly the kids round here aren't particularly nice to cats. But the new house has a nice enclosed garden (not that I think for one minute that they'll stay within it!) and is in a fairly quiet area, so they should be safe.

That's it from me for now, if I sit still too long I'll not get going again!
